DUO IBIZA is committed to helping abandoned dogs in Ibiza. DUO IBIZA takes care of the socialization, care and training of the dogs, promoting their physical abilities as well as emotional recovery in order to prepare the dogs as best as possible to become a member of a suitable family and thereby increase the chance of a new, beautiful dog life.
Every dog is different and has its own character, so we work with you individually and get to know your abilities and talents so that we can be sure to find the perfect home for you .

ABOUT US
In 1993, the animal welfare association Tierhilfe DUO Ibiza was founded on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza by a small group of committed women. Christiane Michel, 2 veterinarians and her DUO team have carried out tireless, valuable animal welfare work on Ibiza for almost 30 years. After Christiane decided to leave the island at the end of 2021, the question arose: what will become of DUO? The abbreviation stands for Danos Una Oportunidad, which in English means "give us a chance". Giving the island's many dogs in need of help a chance to continue living and to find a safe haven is exactly what should be continued. Sandra and Sven Gebhard, who had been coming to the island as vacationers for years and had previously adopted 4 dogs from animal welfare, including from DUO, decided to take the step of emigrating with the unchanged goal of continuing the important work of the last decades for the benefit of animals.
However, there was a small change in the name of the registered, non-profit association at the beginning of 2023. Tierhilfe DUO Ibiza became DUO IBIZA Animal Rescue in Elke Schmidt.
Elke Schmidt was an animal rights activist all her life with a strong connection to Ibiza. She and her family spent a lot of time caring for stray dogs on Ibiza. Back in the early days of DUO, she took on her first of seven dogs, which she also placed with family members.
After a short, serious illness, Elke Schmidt passed away on August 5, 2022 at the age of 53. At Elke Schmidt's request, the family is now supporting the continued development of DUO. As a thank you for this generous act, it was decided to change the name of DUO with the addition "im Elke Schmidt".

Sandra and Sven Gebhard
Sandra ist Beisitzer im Vorstand und unterstützt den Verein hauptsächlich im Adoptionsbereich. Sie lebt mit ihrem Mann Sven auf der DUO Finca.
